6 Tricks to Ease the Symptoms of Menopause

By on October 22, 2016

Menopause is a “pause” period of the menstrual cycle. According to Ayurveda the symptoms of menopause are linked with aging. Menopausal phase is an important part for a female as it brings a lot of changes in a female’s life. All these changes and their effects are commonly known as “Menopausal Syndrome”.

Menopausal Syndrome is not a disease; however, when all these changes are aggressive it brings a lot of dis-ease in the life and can make this syndrome a disease. Menopausal symptoms are experienced by 75 to 85 percent of women.

A diet containing hot spicy food, alcohol, caffeine and stressful lifestyle can increase it.

Ayurvedic herbs possess a certain phytoestrogen that connects with the body’s estrogen receptors, which enable the hormones to function properly, thereby help smooth the transition through menopause. These herbs address almost all the changes of the menopause without any side effects and have an effect almost parallel to hormone replacement therapy and synthetic hormones medication.

Six Herbs to Help Ease Symptoms of Menopause

  1. Anethum sova (Mishreya) acts as an emmenagogue. This herb imparts active ingredients that increase more blood supply to the pelvic area and uterus.
  2. Saraca indica (Ashoka) is the best uterine tonic. It strengthens the muscles of uterus and reduces vaginal discharge and pain.
  3. Trigonella foenum graecum (Methika) contains estrogen-like saponins. The saponins help to improve uterine functions, reduce excess fat, and levels of cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides safely and naturally.
  4. Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) has phyto-estrogen that helps with hot flashes, night sweats, and anxiety and enhances libido.
  5. Hemidesmus indicus (Sariva) it is a blood purifier. Sariva acts on the tissue level and effective in issues like hot flushes.
  6. Emblica officianalis (Amalaki) is an anti oxidant, rejuvenator and has anti aging properties, thereby promoting health of all organs including the uterus. It is a good cardiac tonic, hair tonic and complexion enhancer too.

How to Treat Symptoms of Menopause

  • Dryness of vagina: Vaginal tampon with sesame oil helps.
  • Irritation and mood swings: Avoidance of caffeinated products, alcohol, refined sugar and hot, spicy food, including ghee (clarified butter) in diet and practicing meditation helps.
